Patricia Aguirre Presents at RCI's 32nd International Convention & Trade Show

During the 32nd RCI International Convention & Trade Show in Anaheim, California on March 16 through 21, BTC’s Senior Engineer, Patricia (Tricia) Aguirre, PE, REWC, was part of a three-member team that presented a one-day course entitled: Exterior Wall Quality Assurance.  For the past year, Tricia has been working with a team of subject matter experts to develop this course for RCI.

The Exterior Wall Quality Assurance course was for professionals interested in performing observation to assure that exterior wall systems are installed in accordance with construction documents.  The program covered diverse topics in the construction of exterior walls, and was intended for manufacturers, general contractors, quality assurance observers, and field observers.  Course participants received detailed information on the different materials and systems that could be encountered in exterior wall construction, including proper installation and a discussion of how these components interface to create a weathertight assembly.

As one of the instructors, Tricia covered the fundamentals of insulation, air and water barriers, vapor retarders, sealant, and various cladding materials, including stucco and EIFS.

Tricia Aguirre focuses on forensic field investigations; facade and building envelope investigations; structural inspection, analysis and design; and the development of repair recommendations and design documents.  She is an active member of the Peer Review Committee for RCI Interface, RCI’s technical journal, and serves on the ASTM C11 Committee on Gypsum and Related Building Materials.
