Internships

Building Technology Consultants, Inc. (BTC) is seeking engineering and architectural students for its internship program. 

BTC's internship program is specifically designed to quickly involve interns in numerous critical components of BTC's Services and Expertise.  Interns directly assist the firm's Principals, Project Managers, and Project Engineers within all areas of BTC's expertise, such as field work, product research, preparing design drawings, and reviewing contractor submittals.  Interns gain firsthand, practical knowledge about the process to complete effective forensic evaluations and repair designs pertaining to building enclosures.

Interested students must be in pursuit of a degree in engineering and/or architectural disciplines at an accredited college or university.  Any interested college students should submit their resume and cover letter to [email protected].

Drafting and Field Technician

Building Technology Consultants, Inc. (BTC) is seeking a Drafting and Field Technician to join our team. 

A drafting and Field Technician's role includes assiting Principals and Project Managers in field investigations of building deficencies, coordinating technical and administrative activites for projects.  Prepare engineering and architectural drawings under the direction of Technical Support Manager, Prinipals, and Project Managers.  Develop graphics for marketing, literature, or technical presentations.  Maintain BTC's equipment by stocking, updating, cleaning, organizing, etc.

Required Qualifications:
-Average to advanced skills in Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel.
-Good writing and oral communication skills.
-Ability to quickly learn and become familiar with building construction and building envelope systems.
-Ability to quickly learn and become familiar with evaluation techniques and repair of building envelope systems.
-Ability to read, understand, and follow standard testing procedures.
-Ability to become thoroughly familiar with BTC procedures and formats within 3 months.
-Required to work on construction sites and on scaffolding, including fixed scaffolding and swingstages.
-Proficient in AutoCAD or AutoCAD LT, current version or version prior to current version.
-Proficient in SketchUp

Senior Architect

Building Technology Consultants, Inc. (BTC) is seeking a Drafting and Field Technician to join our team. 

Our team is comprosed of recognized leaders in their respective fields. We employ Licensed Structural Engineers, Licensed Professional Engineers, Registered Building Enclosure Consultants, Registered Roof Consultants, Registered Exterior Wall Consultants, Registered Waterproofing Consultants, Certified Construction Specifiers, Certified Construction Contract Administrators, Certified Document Technologists, Registered Roof Observers, LEED Accredited Professionals, Certified Level I Infrared Thermographers, Certified Concrete Slab Moisture Testing Technicians, and Certified Concrete Field Testing Technicians.

Structural Engineer
Building Technology Consultants, Inc. (BTC) is seeking a Structural Engineer who is interested in a challenging and rewarding career.  The position requires an individual who is technically competent and has excellent communication skills.  Responsibilities include field investigations, building facade assessments, forensic evaluations, component analyses, repair design, and various other areas of engineering proficiencies. 

Ideal candidate will have 4 to 8 years of practical structural design and analysis experience, and have familiarity with field work at project sites.  Candidate must possess an Illinois Structural Engineer license or be able to obtain their license within 2 years.
